Party Rentals 101

If you entertain frequently, you probably have the "party rental" drill memorized.  However, if you are hosting for the first or second time, you may still need some pointers when it comes to renting the necessities for a successful event!  Here are my Top 5 Party Rental Tips:

1.  If your guest count exceeds 20 guests, you should spend the money to rent the glassware, china, linens, napkins and flatware.  Most people do not own enough of these items to host more than 20 individuals.  Renting these things will save you time and the hassle of washing them at the end of your party.  The investment is totally worth it.

2.  Avoid extra charges by arranging for delivery and pickup during the week and between 9am-5pm.

3.  Never rent from multiple rental companies for one event.  It becomes very confusing and the items may get mixed and returned to the wrong company.

4.  For a cocktail party, always use the following formula to insure you don't run out of glasses.
  • 3 all-purpose glasses per guest (i.e. 75 guests = 225 glasses) and 1 champagne flute per guest.  If you are only doing an hour of hors d'oeuvres and drinks prior to a meal, you can plan on 1-2 glasses per guest plus the glassware you need to set the table.

5.  Splurge on the linens = it can change the entire look of a table.  In a good way.

I recommend always including party rentals into your event budget.  The price can range anywhere from $15pp-$65pp.  It really depends on your selections and the company you use.  Have fun with it and be creative!
