Have you ever thrown together a party in such a short period of time that you can’t even remember how you pulled it off!? As an event planner, I've certainly tried on that pair of pants before…more than once. But, just because time isn’t on your side doesn’t mean the event can’t still be a huge success. Here are 5 ways to pull together a beautiful bash in a rush:
1. Prepare months before without even knowing it. I always have small gifts, votives, bottles of wine and gourmet foods stocked. Start your party closet now and decrease your stress level later.
2. When it comes to the food, there may not be time to call the caterer. So, make use of those
pre-packaged grocery store trays – but arrange the goodies on your gorgeous platters instead.
Or, think deconstructed and chic. Create a “build-your-own” mashed potato bar with all the fixins’ – bacon, cheddar cheese, green onions, sour cream, veggies, etc.
3. No time for formal invites! Create an evite and text to send out. Be sure to throw a little fun into the message…so that it fits into that informal, light-hearted mode.
4. Stock your bathroom. You will look pulled together with a pile of guest towels and special soaps. Isn’t it silly what people notice? We are all guilty.
5. Don’t go overboard on the décor. One centerpiece (the florist should be able to pull this together for you at the last minute) and a few of your treasured pieces will do the trick. Simplicity will win in this case.
One last thing…stop worrying and enjoy yourself! You get to throw an amazing bash for some pretty great people in your life. And, the party must go on…with or without you running around with your head cut off! Sit back, relax and take in what you just did. It will be a pretty terrific feeling.
Boldly Yours,
