Here are some things to consider when you are planning your after party...
1. Change the setting. Make guests feel like they have completely walked in to a new party. From the colors and lighting to the food and music, make it different from the main event. If they just came from a grand ballroom, create a modern lounge for them to relax.
2. Keep it convenient. Don't make it obnoxious for guests to get from the main event to the after party. Keep parking and travel time in mind.
3. Create a new menu - full of snacks! Guests have already been served a meal of some sort...but with all that dancing and drinking, make sure there are lots of fun, small bites for them to nosh on. To make it really interesting, try pairing each item with a mini cocktail too! Caterers (the good ones) will love to take part in your creativity.
4. Send invites one month before the event - and only to those that already RSVP'd "yes". For something more casual/unique, create custom cocktail napkins to be used at the main event, letting everyone know about the post-party events.
5. Forget the rules - after parties are supposed to be a time to let your hair down after an exciting and busy day. So, if you want karaoke at your after party - do it!
6. If the costs of throwing an after party just aren't in your budget - but you don't want the night to end - consider these ideas instead.
However you choose to prolong your party and spend more time with guests, make it unforgettable, fun and personal!
Boldly Yours,
Lori
