Bold Business: The Hawthorns

Finding the perfect venue for any special event is a huge task.  And, Indianapolis is stocked full of some pretty great ones which can make the job even harder.  So, when I stumble upon a place like The Hawthorns, I immediately begin spreading the word.  Not only is it located on beautiful property in Fishers, the staff is remarkable and extremely accommodating.  Here is what Stephanie Rice, Catering Sales and Event Manager, had to share about this very Bold Business...

What sets The Hawthorns apart from other venues in the area?
Our staff loves what they do and they are happy to help our clients and their guests with anything they may need while on the property. We have the perfect rooms for intimate gatherings of 10, elegant bridal or baby showers of 20 to 60, and a unique and nontraditional ballroom with a modern design including lots of windows and natural light for 300 guests. We pride ourselves on “one stop shopping” for your planning process and providing our clients with the Country Club level of service without the Country Club price.



What is your favorite part about your job? 
The moment a client walks into the room on their big day has to be one of my favorite parts of my job. The look of relaxation and excitement on their face is what we strive for. When clients tell me that I have made their planning process “easy and stress free” for them, I know I’ve done my job.



What recent project or client have you worked on/with that screamed “unique”? 
Stacy with the Design Group and I were extremely fortunate to have the “Mehmen / Kocher” wedding a month ago. This couple is so in love and so unique! From the bride's birdcage veil to her tea-length wedding dress to the vintage centerpieces - the entire event was distinctly ‘them’. There is nothing more fabulous than when you can design a room to replicate two peoples personalities. They invited only their closest friends and family which made it even more special. 


SB Childs Photography did their photos and I can’t even begin to describe how they captured “true love” in a photograph. The icing on the cake has to be that the groom bid on 200 cupcakes at a charity auction and that is what they had for a wedding cake! He even surprised his bride with a vintage brooch bouquet that was breathtaking! Working with this client and such spectacular vendors truly made this my all time favorite project!



Where is your favorite place to relax and be inspired? 
Any time I’m with girlfriends who are in the business it’s a never ending flow of inspiration and relaxation. There is a reason that educational institutions put groups of people together to work on creating large elaborate ideas and complete expansive projects. Tackling a project by yourself turns out to be a great idea but together it’s a grand event! Surrounding yourself with people who love life and what they do is the best muse anyone could ever have!

What do you love to do when you are not helping create the perfect event setting for people? 
Laughing and being silly with my boyfriend is always the best. Snuggling with my dog is the best way to unwind from my crazy schedule. Exploring new wines and sharing them with friends always leads to a good evening.

Incomparable, unmatched, exceptional.




BCE's favorite thing about this venue?  The amazing windows that line the ballroom.  It truly creates a completely unexpected view for every guest.
